DOVER — Dover High’s boys’ basketball team is headed back to the Final Four.

The second-seeded Senators earned a spot in the DIAA state semifinals with a 67-49 victory over No. 10 St. Georges before a big crowd on its home floor on Saturday afternoon.

Henlopen Conference Dover (21-2) will face No. 3 Middletown on Thursday night at the Carpenter Center at a time TBA.

The Cavaliers (18-5) reached the semis with a 70-50 win over Saint Mark’s in their quarterfinal contest.

Dover and Middletown last played in the 2021-22 season, with the Senators winning in both the regular season and second round of the state tourney. The Cavs feature five Matthews brothers who transferred from Seaford in the off-season.

In Saturday’s victory, the Senators were paced by Polytech transfer Dorell Little, who finished with 30 points.

The Senators’ girls’ basketball squad will play in the state quarterfinals on Monday at Ursuline.

Dover last played in the state Final Four in 2019. In 2020, the Senators reached the semis but the COVID pandemic broke out in the same week and the tournament was canceled.
