Douglas Roy Berwald

LEWES - Douglas Roy Berwald passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Beebe Hospital. Lewes. Doug was born June 16, 1955 in Denver, Colo. to the late Arthur R. Berwald and Helen Lewis Berwald. He attended Dover Air Force Base School and had graduated from Dover High School. Doug loved music, bowling, fishing, going to the beach, baseball, football especially the Eagles and Pirates. Doug was a kind, caring person that was loved deeply by his family. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. His family would like to thank all of the many care givers over the years that helped take care of him after a tragic accident left him disabled very young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Diaz in 2010. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Santiago of Smyrna; nieces, Amy Davis and her husband Martin, Glenda Krause and her husband Bryan; nephews, Michael Santiago, Jr., Anthony Santiago, James Timbs, Daniel Timbs, Jerry Diaz; great nieces, Mia and Elianna Davis, Rory Krause; great nephews, Mason Davis, Christian Timbs and Bryan Krause, Jr., and many cousins in West Virginia, New York, and New Jersey. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m, Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
