CAMBRIDGE - Dorothy Dodd "Dot" Phillips, 80, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007. She was born in Baltimore on July 25, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Lena Kroutsak Lentz.
She graduated from Forest Park High School in June 1945.
On March 7, 1947, she was married to Robert L, Dodd. They moved to Ames, Iowa, for two years while he completed his degree. They moved back to Baltimore in 1949 where they lived until they moved to Cambridge in October 1958.
She had worked part time for Dr. Marion Gillis from 1965 until 1972 and later worked for Bill Vincent's State Farm Insurance agency from 1972 until 1977. Mr. Dodd passed away on March 5, 1983.
On June 24, 1989, she was married to Edwin L. Phillips. Mr. Phillips passed away on May 19, 2006.
Mrs. Phillips had been a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge since 1959, where she had been involved in many capacities and was an active member of the Ruth Stewart Circle, and was also a former member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan D. Kurtz and her husband Rick Kurtz of Easton; two sons, R. Michael Dodd and his wife Janet Dodd of Washington, and Steven M. Dodd and his wife Laura Dodd of Cambridge ;a stepson, Gregory R. Phillips and his wife Bobbie Ann Phillips of Cambridge ;five grandchildren, Michael Dodd, Christopher Dodd, Brittany Kurtz, Angela Dodd and Will Kurtz ; a step-grandson, Ryan Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Battenfeld.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Samuel H. McWilliams officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust St., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
