FEDERALSBURG - Dorothy Payne Donovan 81, passed away at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge on Thursday, July 12, 2007. She was born in Hurlock on Aug. 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Emory Payne and Helen Phillips Payne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore E. Donovan on March 29, 2004.
Mrs. Donovan was a graduate of Hurlock High School, class of 1943. She had previously worked for E.I DuPont as a lab technician and also for Maryland Plastics Co. in Federalsburg.
She was a member of Federalsburg Senior Center and a lifetime member of the Federalsburg VFW Post 5246 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Donovan is survived by three daughters, Barbara Joanne Messick of Seaford, Shirley D. Bennett and Maxine Diamond, both of Federalsburg; three grandsons, Carl Messick and his wife, Kim, Justin D. Diamond and Jordan S. Diamond; a great-granddaughter, Aurora Messick; four sisters, Virginia Thomas of Baltimore, Rachel Lord, Martha Harris, both of Seaford and Edith Schoffstall of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Howard Payne of Milford, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Payne.
Funeral services for her were held on Sunday at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Rev. Kevin English officiating. Burial followed at Bloomery Cemetery near Federalsburg.
