Dorothy Marie Shirley, 80
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Dorothy Marie Shirley, of Chestertown, formerly of Riverton, N.J., died peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2008. She was 80.
Dorothy was born on April 10, 1927, in Atlantic City, N.J., to the late William and Bessie Cave.
She graduated from Audubon High School.
Dorothy married Richard Bruce Shirley, the love of her life, in 1950.
They resided in Merchantville, N.J., until moving to Riverton in 1970.
She moved to Maryland two years ago to be closer to family.
Dorothy was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverton, N.J., Merchantville Women's Club, Riverton Country Club, and Riverton Yacht Club.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, traveling, her dogs, golfing and being with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Shirley in 2007; and her son Scott in 1975.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Lippincott and her husband Thomas of Chestertown; one brother, William Cave of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three granddaughters, Christina, Shelly and Charlotte Lippincott.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverton.
Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, N.J.
