Dorothy Margaret Hastings Closser

GREENWOOD - Dorothy Margaret Hastings Closser passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. Dorothy, "Dot" to friends and family, was born on April 11, 1928 in Seaford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Grover C. & Minnie Hastings of Seaford. Dot was a 1946 graduate of Seaford High School. She was an accomplished artist and a founding member of the Woodbridge Art League as well as a member of the Rehoboth Art League. Dot was a secretary for her husband, Raymond, for many years with Local Union 847. She is survived by her children, daughter, Suzanne Sheffield and husband, Bill, of Dover; son, Frank Closser, of Greenwood; daughter, Tammy Kearney and husband, Mike, of Seaford; daughter, Jamie Grillo and husband, John, of Greenwood; daughter, Kara Brasure and husband, Keith, of Dagsboro; and brother, Henry Hastings and wife, Betty, of Seaford; six grandchildren, Wendy Tull Parker, Brooke Kearney Dickerson, Tyler Thoroughgood, Matthew Cook, Summer Sheffield and Will Sheffield; and two great-grandchildren, Kate Parker and Greyson Dickerson, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Closser; daughter, Cherie; brothers, Paul, William and Norman Hastings; sister, Madeline King; and grandson, Jason Gregory Tull. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950. Interment will be at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood, DE.
