Dorothy Jean Stoeckel Chafin

Stoeckel Chafin, 79 GEORGETOWN - Dorothy Jean Stoeckel Chafin of Georgetown passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at home. Dorothy was born in Stockley, Del. the daughter of the late Paul and Alice (Collins) Stoeckel. She was a secretary for the State Highway Dept. in Georgetown for 30 years. She was an avid bridge player and lover of cats and dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Lee Chafin; brothers, Jack and Wayne Stoeckel; and a grandchild, Eli Chafin. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah Moore, Susan and Gary Davis, Lee, Jr. and Valarie Chafin, and Thomas and Suzanne Chafin; brothers, Gerald and Sylvia Stoeckel, Allan and Hope Stoeckel and Lind and Janet Stoeckel; sister-in-laws, Hazel Cordrey and Jean Hudson; grandchildren, Jennifer Boniface, Lara Lane, Jamie Moore, Trey Moore, Katie McCoy, Mindi Davis, Gavin Davis, Nicole Chafin, Kiley Chafin, Cameron Chafin, Colby Chafin, and Ella Chafin; great-grandchildren, Addison Lane, Brynlee Lane and Alice Hamilton. A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
