
GEORGETOWN - Dorothy 'Dot' J. Lynch, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford, Del. She was born on Feb. 9, 1924, in Pocahontas, Iowa, daughter of the late Harry F. and Myrtle (Butler) Johnson. Mrs. Lynch enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1943 where she met the love of her life, George Lynch Sr. whom she wed in December of 1945 during Christmas break. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1946, the Lynch's moved to Lewes, Del. where they called home for 30 years and raised two beautiful children before settling in Georgetown. Mrs. Lynch loved being a homemaker; she enjoyed sewing, painting, and especially baking. She created several masterfully decorated cakes that were enjoyed by many. Mrs. Lynch was a member of Harbeson Homemakers, Kelly Class, and a lifelong member of Lewes Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George H, Lynch Sr. in 2006; and her son, George H. Lynch, Jr. in 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce L. Layton and her husband Jerry of Dagsboro, Del.; four granddaughters, Leslie McMillian and her husband Michael of Lincoln, Del., Jennifer Lynch of Wilmington, Del., and Jessica and Julie Layton both of Dagsboro, Del; three great-grandchildren, Brody, Marley, and Tyrone; sister, Shirley Anderson of Iowa; brother, Howard Johnson of Calif; brother-in-law, Paynter Lynch and his wife Joyce of Milford, Del.; and sister-in-law, Susie Lynch of Lewes, Del. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewes Presbyterian Church "Kitchen Fund", 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
