Dorothy Eleanor Carney

'Toby' Carney, 88 DOVER - Dorothy Eleanor 'Toby' Carney passed away Monday Jan. 28, 2013 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Mrs. Carney was born July 31, 1924 in Dover to the late Goldie Carney and Agnes Carney. She worked for more than 20 years at Van Holtons. Mrs. Carney was a Sunday school teacher at Fork Branch Union Church, Dover and was a member of the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, Cheswold. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Carney was a loving and nurturing person who truly loved everyone she met. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Garland Return Carney, 1999; brother, Glendon 'Jake' Carney; and step brother, Lenard Alfonso Grigsby. She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor 'Dianne' Ridgeway and her husband Greensbury of Hartly, Dee Ridgeway and her husband Roger, Sr of Dover; grandchildren, Randy, Brian and Julie Ridgeway and Roger Ridgeway, Jr. and his wife Laura; great grandchildren, Brian Jr., Randy Jr., Austin, Shawn, Lauren, Jayden, Jaleena, Trevor, Journey, Haylee, Janielle, Jamarion; a host of in laws; cousins; nieces; nephews; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m Friday Feb. 1, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 East Lebanon Rd. Friends may call from 11 to 12:30. Interment will be in Immanuel Union Methodist Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated or contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, PO Box 309, Cheswold, DE 19936.
