Dorothea Jane Veasey

GEORGETOWN - Dorothea Jane Veasey, of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown. She has been a resident of Georgetown for the past 67 years, moving from Ohio when she was 12. Dorothea was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Roberts and Vivian (Abbey) Shew. She worked at the Manford C. Rust and Chardon jewelry store in Georgetown and also drove a school bus for the Indian River School District for 22 years. She was a member of the Pocahontas, Red Men, and the Delaware Campers Assoc. She was previously a member of the BSA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, John and Carl Roberts, and a sister, Joyce West. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry D. Veasey; two sons, Thomas P. Veasey, II, and wife Sara W. Veasey of Ashville, N.C., and David M. Veasey and wife Elisabeth K. Veasey of Earlyville, Va.; four grandchildren, Nichole D. Veasey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Amista H. Lunsford of Ashville, N.C., Megan E. Veasey and Brian D. Veasey, both of Earlysville, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Aviana Lunsford and a brother, Wayne Roberts. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at 11:30 am in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE, where friends and family may call Monday night Feb. 18, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Georgetown Regional Office, P.O. Box 626, Georgetown, DE 19947.
