Doris Truitt Torbert

Doris Truitt Torbert, 76 DOVER - Doris Truitt Torbert, of Dover, Del. and Marco Island, Fla., died Friday, March 5, 2010. She was 76. Doris was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Seaford, to Claude W. and Mary Truitt. She attended Seaford Schools through her sophomore year, and then moved to Salisbury, Md., where she graduated from Wicomico High School in 1952. She worked for the Caesar Rodney School District until she married her husband William Torbert, and then worked for his family business for 36 years, Torbert Funeral Chapels until her retirement. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Dover where she served on several committees; she was also a member of the Ladies Elks of Dover and an associate member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Marco Island, Fla. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Alan and Bill Truitt. She is survived by her husband, Bill; a brother, John Truitt; three sons, Frank Wallick "Randy" and his wife Rose, Gary Wallick and Bill Torbert and his wife Lisa; three daughters, Patti Olenik and her husband Dan, Sharon Belleville and her husband Yvan, and Lisa Torbert. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, where friends may from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening. A private interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery. Contributions may be sent to Wesley U.M. Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
