Doris Marie Slater

DOVER - Doris Marie Slater passed away on Feb. 5, 2013 at Milford Memorial Hospital following an illness. She was born on Sept. 2, 1954 to the late William and Frances Clough in Dover. Doris enjoyed working on her puzzle books, writing poetry, doing crafts, crocheting, and most especially, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Doris worked as a nurse's aide, and happily spent her time as a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Clough and Frances McIntire. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Vernon Slater; her sons, Elden Ervin Tunnell, Jr., Sammy Edward Tunnell, and Christopher Michael Tunnell, Sr.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Tucker, Georgie Grace, and William Clough, Jr.; four sisters, Elsie Dear, Elizabeth Burke, Barbara Clough, Peggy Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service for Doris will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the Faith Community Church, 2240 S. Dupont Hwy, Camden, DE. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to help defer the cost of the funeral services. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
