EASTON, Md. - Doris K. Voshell, of Easton, formerly of Preston, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in William Hill Manor, Easton. She was 89.

Born in Havre de Grace, Mrs. Voshell was the daughter of the late Clarence Joseph and Mildred Ramsdell Kern.

She was a secretary at the Preston School, retiring in 1981 after 27 years of service.

Mrs. Voshell was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Preston, where she sang in the choir and was a past president and treasurer of the Bethesda United Methodist Women. She was also past secretary of the administrative board and past treasurer of Sunday school.

Mrs. Voshell was secretary of the Caroline County Retired Teachers Association for 30 years and was a former 4-H leader and life member of the Maryland Congress of PTA.

She served four years on the Agricultural Adjustments Administration in Denton.

Most recently, she volunteered many hours for the Activities Department of William Hill Manor, especially with bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Denny Voshell, on Jan. 3, 1995; and two sisters, Merlyn Collins and Joyce K. Ober.

Mrs. Voshell is survived by one son, Joseph Levi Voshell and his wife Margaret of Easton; two daughters, Karen Kern Voshell of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Susan V. Bax and her husband Pieter of Napa, Calif.; one sister, Janet K. Councell of Goldsboro; one grandson, Joseph L. Voshell Jr.; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandson, Nicholas Z. Voshell; a great-granddaughter, Isabella R. Voshell; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Bethesda United Methodist Church, 154 Main St., Preston, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Interment will be in Junior Order Cemetery, Preston.

Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home, Denton.
