Dennis Gene Deakins

DOVER - Dennis Gene Deakins, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. Dennis was born June 4, 1956 to Cecil and Lynn Deakins. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1975 where he was on the wrestling and football teams. After graduation he attended Salisbury State University where he played football. Dennis worked as a truck driver and printer. He enjoyed photography and riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, but loved being with his family most of all especially his two grandsons. Wonderful son, father, brother and grandfather, he is survived by his parents, Cecil and Lynn Deakins of Dover; daughters, Dawn Edwards and her husband Bill of Baltimore, Md, Kristina Deakins of Hudson, Fla.; brother, John Deakins and his wife Theresa of Bear, Del; and grandsons, Cooper Edwards and Jack Deakins–Topp. A memorial service will be held during the visitation Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Route 10), Dover. Visitation hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation in Baltimore, MD. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
