MILFORD - Dennis E. Allen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, surrounded by his family at Christiana Hospital. Dennis was the son of the late John and Sarah (Donnelly) Allen. He was a programmer for I.B.M. in New York for 27 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Milford, and the Knights of Columbus, where he was currently serving as their treasurer. He was also a member of the Milford Senior Bowling League at Milford Lanes, the local neighborhood watch and the Shawnee Country Club, now known as the Rookery North. He loved to bowl, play golf and to travel. He was also known as a Trivia Wiz. He was well respected by his friends and would help them out whenever he could, for he could never say no to anyone. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lottie; a daughter, Sheila Allen; a son, Patrick Allen; two step-sons, Harry Petersson and his wife Susan, and Everett Petersson and his wife Arlette; a granddaughter, Kirsten Petersson; a sister, Margaret Medici and her husband Joseph; a sister-in-law, Lucille Colin; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford, where friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454 , Alexandria, VA 22312.
