With the contest tied 2-2, Trey Paige gave DSU the lead for good with a two-run single in the fourth inning.
Freshman catcher Nick Gnardellis hit his team-leading fifth home run with a solo shot in the seventh.
The Hornets secured the win with a three-run eighth inning, Paige paced the offense with a game-high three hits and three RBIs while Evan Bouldin and Krew Bouldin both recorded multi-hit games,
On the mound, Evan Bouldin pitched three innings and only surrendering two earned runs. Six relievers finished out the contest.
The victory marks career win No. 496 for coach J.P. Blandin.
Maryland 13, Delaware 11: The Blue Hens couldn’t hold a three-run, ninth-inning lead as the Terrapins rallied for the 10-inning win.
After Maryland (9-7) went up 11-10 with four runs in the ninth, Delaware (6-10) forced extra innings with a run in the bottom of the ninth. But the Terps came back with a pair of runs in the top of the 10th.
Bryce Greenly (Milford) had two triples for the second time in two years. He and Joey Loynd each had three hits.
College softball
Hornets win two: Felicity Munoz was 5-for-7 with four runs scored, while Mayanah McIntosh and Sydney Hoffman tossed complete games to lead Delaware State to a 6-4, 6-1 sweep of Bowie State.
The Hornets (4-10) were playing their first games since Feb. 28.
In game one, Delaware State trailed 4-2 before scoring four in the fifth. Chandler Martin doubled in the first two runs before Sanaa Brown followed with a double to score Martin.
In the nightcap, Emma Glawson (2-for-2, 3 RBI), Uxua Lopez (3-for-3, 2 RBI) and Kayla Lester (3-for-3, 1 RBI) paced DSU.
College lacrosse
WOMEN, Central Connecticut State 10, Delaware State 8: The Hornets were ahead for much of the first 50 minutes before the Blue Devils rallied for the win.
Ebony Reddick tallied four goals for DSU (2-5).
