Licensed child care professionals can now apply to receive $1,000 payments from the Delaware Department of Education.
The Delaware Child Care Bonus program is intended to “show appreciation and incentivize retention in a critical workforce,” according to a department press release. It is funded using $10.6 million the state received from the American Rescue Plan.
There are several eligibility requirements: Professionals must be working at least 20 hours a week, have worked at least 90 days prior to applying and be 18 or older. The full requirement list and information on how to apply can be found here.
Applications are due July 29. Payment can be received through direct deposit or by check via mail. After verification, payment can take up to 10 days for direct deposit or up to 30 days for a mailed check.
