Delaware Angels is open for business

NEWARK — Inspired by the near-death, cardiac arrest event of her infant son and his lifelong diagnosis of Congenital Heart Disease, Jenn Parrish along with husband Mark Parrish and friend, Jess Thornburg have started a non-profit, Delaware Angels. The organization will raise awareness and provide proactive measures for health-related issues, provide volunteer opportunities, encourage community volunteerism and provide support through community-oriented events.

Late last year Mrs. Parrish hosted community events that benefited children at Nemours Children’s Hospital and Exceptional Care for Children. Since the successful events friends, neighbors and organizations have expressed desire to partner on future projects. Community oriented, Delaware Angels invites the public to collaborate on initiatives, volunteer, and to get involved. Those interested are asked to send an email to Kindess.4.All.DE@gmail.com.

“The implications of what this organization can generate for the community are exciting and boundless,” said Ms. Thornburg, board member.

“So many individuals and families feel alone while going through a health crisis. I hope Delaware Angels helps provide comfort and support when they need it most,” said Ms. Parrish, executive director and president.

The trio has big plans for this year, including a large holiday event in Newark to benefit children in local hospitals, a Halloween event, and partnering with a local nonprofit to raise awareness for congenital heart disease.
