Delaware Agricultural Museum readying ‘Farmer’s Christmas’

DOVER — The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village is busy with preparations for “A Farmer’s Christmas,” the museum’s annual holiday celebration.

Visitors step back in time, recapturing the holiday season of yesteryear as they stroll through the museum’s festive main exhibit hall, delight in songs sung by strolling carolers, savor the scent of fresh-baked cookies, engage in holiday crafts and enjoy a variety of artisan demonstrations.

The theme of this year’s event is “A Farmer’s Christmas Through the Years” and will feature Christmas nostalgia between the decades of 1890-1960. mAmong the many highlights is the Museum’s Holiday Village where community groups and private individuals compete for top honors and cash prizes by decorating the historic buildings on the museum’s 10-acre property as part of the Holiday Village decorating contest.

In addition to the decorating contest, the museum will offer opportunities for businesses to sponsor buildings featured in the holiday village tour.

All proceeds go to support the museum, a 501(c)3, private, nonprofit organization.

Registration for the Holiday Village decorating contest and business sponsorships is underway. For photos and information, visit here or call 302-734-1618.

“A Farmer’s Christmas Through the Years” opens Nov. 26 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 17.
