Ag safety conference taking place in Viola on March 22

VIOLA — The sixth annual Delaware Ag Safety Conference will be held March 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Loblolly Acres, 3893 Turkey Point Road.

The conference is free, open to the public and will feature presentations on various safety topics, one pesticide credit, vendors and door prizes. Morning coffee and lunch will also be provided. To register for or sponsor the conference, visit defb.org.

The event is hosted by the Delaware Farm Bureau’s Promotion and Education Committee in partnership with Nationwide, University of Delaware Cooperative Extension and Loblolly Acres.

Presentations will include:

  • "Hay Bale Safety” with Jules Hendrix of Crow Insurance Agency and Nationwide.
  •  “Tick Talk” with Dr. Ashley Kennedy of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
  • “Water Quality and the Effects on Pesticide Performance” with Dr. Kerry Richards of the University of Delaware.
  • “Being Safe & Smart around Moving Equipment and Parts” with Farm Bureau executive director Don Clifton.
