Deborah M. Ward, 54 PRESTON - Deborah M. Ward of Preston died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 54. Born on July 16, 1955, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Dolores Petro Murray of Alabama and the late Edward Johnston. After completing her primary and secondary education, she was a Registered Nurse graduating from the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing in Salisbury in 1977. She then took a nursing position at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield from 1977 until 1980; at which time, she began working at the Memorial Hospital at Easton until retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Star Touring and Riding Association. Debbie is survived by her husband, Gordon T. Ward Jr. whom she married June 16, 1978, of Preston; a daughter, Erin M. Ward of Preston; a sister, Michelle Atkinson of Chestertown; two grandchildren, Annabelle M. Willis and James S. Howell III; a step-father, James Murray of Alabama; and one niece and several nephews. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., today, Nov. 25, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Easton. A graveside service will be 3 p.m., at Sunnyridge Memorial Cemetery, Crisfield. Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Maryland Chapter, 11403 Cronhill Drive Suite E, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
