David Patrick Ryan Jr., 9 CAMBRIDGE - David Patrick Ryan Jr., died late Tuesday night, March 16, 2010, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He was 9. Born September 18, 2000 in Easton, he was the son of David Patrick Ryan Sr. and Bettina Ilse Gerbig "Tina" Ryan. David was a fourth grade student at Sandy Hill Elementary School. He loved playing with his sisters and friends, LEGOs and Star Wars. David played on the YMCA Soccer Youth League. David was a communicant of St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, where he was an altar server and sang in the choir. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Kurt and Ilse Gerbig. Surviving are his parents, David and Tina Ryan; two sisters, Catherine "Katie" Ryan and Megan "Maggie" Ryan, all of Cambridge; paternal grandparents, James and Sheila Ryan of Ocean View, Del.; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Ryan, Brendan Ryan, Annette Burton, Barbara and Phil Albert, Maire Doyle, Kurt Gerbig and Beate Gerbig; many cousins and friends; and two special friends, Garrett Marshall and Thomas Levy. The family thanks the community for their many kindnesses and prayers shown to them during this time. A Mass of Christian Burial was 4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, where the family received friends two hours prior to the service at St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Church, Glasgow St. and Hambrooks Blvd., Cambridge. Celebrant of the Mass was The Rev. William J. Lawler. Burial will be held privately at a later time and date at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Cemetery in Secretary. Pallbearers were David Ryan Sr., James Ryan, Brendan Ryan, Phil Albert, Frank Narr, Ron Haun, David Levy and Ken Kunz.
