
WALDORF, Md. - David Lee Howard, Sr. died Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Hospice House of St Mary's Hospital in Calloway, Md. Born in Crisfield on December 6, 1939, he was a son of Harold M. and Lutisha Marshall Howard.
David was a 1957 graduate of Crisfield High School. After graduation David served a four year enlistment in the United States Air Force. He earned an Associate's Degree from Charles County Community College in Computer Science. His employment included clerical duties at Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, finance specialist at local automobile dealerships and retiring as a Budget Analyst with the Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Coast Guard).
In his younger years, he and his wife owned horses and were active in equestrian activities and local trail riding. David was an avid billiard player and continued to play competitively up through this year. He also enjoyed golfing, woodworking projects, and watching his favorite sports teams (Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals). Especially proud of his Native American heritage, David attended local powwows and activities on the Maryland's Eastern Shore. His final days were spent surrounded by family at his side.
He is survived by his sons, David Lee Howard Jr. (Maireen Malaluan) of Hollywood, Md. and Daniel Lawrence Howard (Pamela) of Weems, Va.; brothers, Norris C. Howard (Barbara) of Eden, Maryland and Charles M. Howard (Linda) of Pueblo West, Colorado; his grandchildren, Cory David Howard, Cassady Howard Hodges, Dalton Howard and Katie Howard; his great-grandchild, Nora Joy MacPherson; brothers-in-law, Paul Browne of Mt. Airey, Md. and Mark Ritter of Felton, Delaware; sister in law, Carolyn Hodges of Modestown, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by many friends and special neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Howard; an infant son, Darren Len Howard; brothers, Harold Mitchell Howard, Jr. and John Wesley Howard; and sisters, Joyce Howard Browne and Margie Howard Ritter.
Funeral services will be private.
