David L. Cummings, 70 CAMBRIDGE, Md. - David Lee "Fats" Cummings, of Cambridge, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010, at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton. He was 70. He was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Wittman on Pot Pie Road, Md., the son of the late James Nicholas "Nick" Cummings and Olive "Snooky" Sewell Cummings Messick. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed by Waverly Press/Cadmus and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Easton Moose Lodge for 45 years and a member of the Easton Elks for 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Evelyn Fluharty Cummings, whom he married on May 10, 1958; a son, Tracy Cummings (Cheryl) of Federalsburg; a special nephew, Ronnie Cummings of Preston; three nieces, three great-nieces; a special cousin, Ira Sewell (Marie) of Preston, and extended family Laurence and Mildred Fluharty, Maggie and Bill Rogers, Charles and Jan McNeal, Libby Fluharty and Blanche Fluharty. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald "Peewee" S. Cummings, and extended family Ruth McNeal, Charles Fluharty, and Leon Fluharty. Funeral services with military honors will be noon, today, April 16, 2010, at the Eastern Shore Veterans Chapel in Beulah with Rev. Nevin Crouse officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be member of MBHWC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life, Libby Fluharty, 3469 American Corner Rd., Federalsburg, MD 21632 or to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Dr., Easton, MD 21601.
