CAMBRIDGE - David James Hines, 56, formerly of Easton, passed suddenly on March 10, 2007, at the Doctor"s Community Hospital in Landham.
He was born Oct. 27, 1950, and was the son the late Perry Albert Copper Sr. and Catherine Mae Hines.
He attended Robert Russum Moton Elementary and High School. Soon after, he served his country for several years in the U.S. Marines. He worked for Bramble Trucking and was known to many as "Bootsie." Mr. Hines was a longtime member of Bethel AME Church of Easton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Albert Copper Jr. and a nephew, Herman Edward Savoy III
He is survived by a son, David James Hines Jr. (Stephanie); three grandchildren: Devante Hines, Jalera Hines and Jayela Hines all of Harrington, Del.; two sisters, Myrtle E. Savoy of Denton and Geraldine Rasin (Billy) of Easton; two aunts, Edna Hines and Ida Hines, both of Easton; five nieces, Erica D. Hines of Windsor Mills, Malisa N. Hines of Denton, Sherlissa Dickerson (Bernard) of Dublin, Ga., Crischendia Briggs (Deanie) and Debbie Parker Benson (Donald) both of Easton; a nephew, Dante E. Hines of Denton and a number of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friend, Rosemary Green of Cambridge.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 426 E. Dover St., Easton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where friends may view two hours prior. Burial will be Richards Memorial Park, Easton.
