CAMBRIDGE - David B. Murphy, 64, of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in his home. He was born in Cambridge on Aug. 27, 1944, and was a son of the late Reuben and Althea "Bunn" Robinson Murphy. He graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1962. Mr. Murphy retired from the State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Marine Surveyor in 1999. He was a Director of the Isaak Walton League. Some of his hobbies were fishing, hunting and softball. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge and the Cambridge Lodge 1272 BPOE Elks. He is survived by two daughters, Christine Harrison and Terri Parker and her companion Paul Douglas all of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Samantha Harrison and P.J. "Peewee" Parker and his girlfriend Brenda Lincoln; a great-granddaughter, Nicole Lyn Parker, she is due on March 11, 2009; a brother, Ernest "Skip" Murphy of Salisbury; one uncle, Spark Robinson of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special companion, Valerie Phelps of Trappe and was married to Sandra Adkins Murphy for 40 years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, 2145 Key Wallace Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
