Daryl A. Dawson, 51

DOVER - Daryl A. Dawson of Dover lost his battle to liver cancer Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 51.

Mr. Dawson was born Aug. 12, 1956, in Augusta, Ga., to Georgia Moye Dawson of Augusta and the late Garvin Dawson.

Mr. Dawson worked as a prison guard in Augusta before moving to New York where he worked as a hospital orderly and transport in the New York Hospital Medical Center in Queens.

He and his family moved to Dover in 2001.

He loved watching his son play in Pop Warner football and his daughter play basketball and dance.

Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his father, Garvin Dawson; and his brother, David Dawson.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Castro Dawson of Dover; his children, Zachary and Adrienne, both at home; his brother, Donald Dawson of Augusta; his cousin, Betty Blackshear of Queens; loving family members, the Latorre family, the Pacheco family, the Tegtmeier bunch; and his father-in-law, Mr. Castro of Puerto Rico, who loved him very much.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel, Frederica.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Cross CYM, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
