MILTON - Darlene K. Rust passed away peacefully at home near Milton on Friday, March 11, 2016. Darlene was born October 24, 1960 in Milford and grew up in Milton. Darlene is survived by her sons, Andy Scotton and Alex Scotton of Milton; her brother-in-law, Tom Tobin; two nephews, Tony Palladino and Rob Palladino; her great nephew, Jake Palladino; and three great nieces, Rachel Palladino, Julie Geraldine Palladino and Alli Rosemarie Palladino. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Scotton in 2001; her father, Carl Rust in 2000; her mother, Dorothy Benson Rust in 2003; her sister, Geraldine Webb Palladino in 1993; her sister, Aileen Webb Tobin in 2013; and her grandmother, Sally C. Webb in 1983. Darlene was married to her best friend Eddie Scotton. Her world revolved around her sons Andy and Alex. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with them. Darlene also loved spending time with her family – her father and mother, her sisters Aileen and Gerri, and her nephews Tony and Rob. Darlene was a member of the Cape Henlopen Band Boosters. She went on all the band trips with Alex and Andy and attended all the Cape Henlopen football games when they were in the band. Darlene had a passion for reading and enjoyed books by James Patterson and J.D. Robb. Darlene loved the beach – from Rehoboth Beach to Lewes, Broadkill and many others. Her favorite place was Kauai where she enjoyed watching sunsets with Andy and Alex at Polihale Beach. Darlene graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1978 and graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS in Nursing. She worked at the Christiana Medical Center in the Emergency Room, the Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
