Daniel Moore 'Dick' or 'Dan' Gooden, 81
WYOMING - Daniel Moore "Dick" or "Dan" Gooden, 81, of Wyoming, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at his home. He was born on June 4, 1928, in Henderson, Md., last surviving child of the late Alexander and Daisy (Moore) Gooden. After his father died, he became manager of Fair Acres Farm for Eugene DuPont III in the early 1960s and then farmed on his own. He enjoyed gardening, farming and animals, especially horses. He was a member of the Willow Run Ruritan and was a 4-H Leader. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Sparks, Feb. 17, 2009; and siblings, Ruth Will, Florence Mullikin, Corinne Gooden, and Alexander Gooden. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Lou Gooden; a daughter, Dana Sharpe and her husband Rick of Wyoming, Alex Gooden and his wife Barbara of Wyoming, Richard Gooden of Wyoming; son-in-law, Don Sparks of Newark; grandchildren, Sherry Kijowski and her husband Michael of Wyoming, Jessica Flaherty and her husband Ryan of Wyoming, Heather Coverdale and her husband Ben of Dover, Lindsay Hughes and her husband James of Lincoln, Elizabeth Donahue and her husband Joseph of Medford, Mass. and Kelly Gooden and her husband Brian Schepens of Aiken, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Seth and Aidan Flaherty, Hunter, Hailey and Kaitlin Coverdale; two nephews, William Will and his wife Brenda of Wyoming, and Robert Will and his wife Pat of Sanford, N.C.; brother-in-law, James Hopkins of Frederica; sister-in-law, Ann Woikoski and her husband Paul of Felton; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends and his dog Dixie. Friends may call 7-9 p.m., Monday evening in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
