Dallas Lee Ray Sr.

HARTLY - Dallas Lee Ray Sr., of Hartly, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, in Milford. He was 57. Mr. Ray a was born on Aug. 20, 1954, in Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., to Dallas Leroy Ray and the late Betty Joan Ray. He had done sheet metal work for the sheet metal union before moving to Delaware and working in the family business Dallas Ray and Sons. He loved fishing of all kinds. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janie H. Ray; two sons, Dallas Ray Jr. and his wife Kellie of Smyrna, and Gregory Heyrick of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, James Ray of Hartly; a sister, Phyllis Meyer of Smyrna; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ray, Camren Ray, and Jaxson Ray. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, south, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be sent to Torbert Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
