DOVER - Dale "Mark" King passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at Kent General Hospital. Mark was born Sept. 23, 1959, in Seaford, Del. and raised in Bridgeville, Del. to Carole (Henry) King and the late James T. King, Sr. He owned, trained and drove harness race horses all his life and was one time Top Driver at Pocono Downs where he had won 5 races in one night in 1985 a track record. Mark was a member of U.S.D.A and D.S.O.A. In addition to his love for horse racing he enjoyed gardening and being with friends and family. He is survived by his mother, Carole King of Harrington; his wife of 12 years, Tammy Lee King of Dover; sons, B.J. Valdesere of Ala., and Dale Mark King, Jr. of Pa;. brothers, James T. King, Jr. and his wife Joann and David Wayne King and his significant other Pam all of Harrington; sisters, Tina Marie Bevans and Jackie Oates both of Bridgeville; grandchildren, Cheyanne, Gavin and Bobbi Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE 19904 to help defray funeral expenses. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
