Salmons, 87 HARRINGTON - D. Robert "Dick" Salmons passed away on Oct. 11, 2012. He was the son of the late David and Violet Salmons. Mr. Salmons worked as a dairy farmer his entire life. His was a past member of several organizations to include, Harrington Moose Lodge, Harrington Senior Center, Delaware Standardbred Association, and he was owner of 5 pacers and Delaware Dairy Association where he won the best dairy farm of the year award. He also attended Calvary Wesleyan church. Mr. Salmons loved to rabbit hunt with his friends and family. He enjoyed going to horse races. He loved everybody and always enjoyed talking to people, he never knew a stranger and if he sat down it wasn't long before he would have a crowd around which he enjoyed talking to. His family always came first. Mr. Salmons enjoyed sitting under a tree on the farm and talking all day to his friends. Like all grandfathers, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every time someone said see you tomorrow he would always say: "Hope So". He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Melrose Salmons; son, Robert Salmons of Harrington; daughter, Deborah and William Moffett Jr. of Harrington; grandchildren, Melanie and Robert Rosser, David and Tyla Moffett, William "Ray" Moffett, Ashley and Bryan Peris, "Bobbie" Robert Salmons; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Robbie, Cole, Trey, Calliegh, Lillie, Gabriel and Wyatt; brother-in-law, Richard "Popeye" Moyer; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Ernest "Jack" Salmons; sisters, Louise, Grace, Stella May Salmons and Harriett Davis. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
