DEWEY BEACH — After a Thursday traffic stop, Delaware State Police arrested Andrew Vogt, 32, of Dewey Beach, on criminal and traffic charges, authorities said.
According to spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper, Mr. Vogt was seen driving a vehicle on Coastal Highway at a high speed at approximately 2:04 a.m. A traffic stop ensued, and a trooper detected a strong smell of alcohol when contacting him, she said, adding that Mr. Vogt also displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
A DUI investigation ensued, and Mr. Vogt was subsequently arrested without incident. A probable-cause search of his vehicle found a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a fixed-blade knife, approximately 13.85 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Cpl. Pepper said.
Mr. Vogt was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana and speeding. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
