CR, Dover off to fast starts in Delaware state tennis tournament

Dover High’s girls’ team and Caesar Rodney’s boys’ squad advanced all five entries into today’s quarterfinals as the DIAA tennis state tournament got underway with two rounds on Saturday.

Quarterfinal matches are slated for 3:30 p.m. today with matches taking place at various Dover and Middletown-area high schools.

For the Senator girls, who won the team state title in 2019, Erika Synoski (first singles), Olivia Anyanwu (second singles), Evie Snyder (third singles), Shing Lin-Terri Crawford (first doubles) and Anna Canalichio-Malini Lodhavia (second doubles) all advanced.

CR’s girls have four entries still playing: Samantha Manjon (first singles), Erin Gros (second singles), Carrie Lord (third singles) and Allyson Lebendig-Natalie Rider (first doubles).

Other Henlopen Conference girls’ entries to advance are Smyrna’s Elayna Tush-Emma VanOrden (first doubles) and Elizabeth Hardesty-Phoebe McClure along with Sussex Academy’s Sage Tunnell-Sienna Tunnell (second doubles).

On the boys’ side, CR’s Jhayden Pappas (first singles), Darin Jawahar (second singles), Mike Sell (third singles), Ramon Majon-Troy Boehne (first doubles) and Caleb Anthony-Gilbert Hoffman (second doubles) all reached the quarterfinals.

Other Henlopen Conference players to advance are Smyrna’s Stefan Savich (first singles), Milford’s Jacob Muir (second singles), Dover’s OM Patel (third singles) and Indian River’s Matthew Engel-Blake Morgan (first doubles) and Caleb Galbreath-Tristen Hood (second doubles).
