DOVER — Delaware posted its lowest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations since Dec. 13 in Wednesday’s update by the Delaware Division of Public Health.
DPH reported 337 individuals hospitalized with the virus as of Tuesday at 6 p.m. That represents a decrease of 63 compared to the day prior.
COVID-19 hospitalizations have decreased by 284 in the last 14 days. The state’s hospitalizations have been declining since setting a record of 759 on Jan. 12 which led to a majority of its hospitals instituting Crisis Standards of Care protocols.
Of those currently hospitalized, 31 cases are considered critical.
DPH also announced eight new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the state’s total to 2,552.
Six of the eight individuals were not vaccinated. Four were Sussex County residents while two were from Kent County and two from New Castle County.
The eight deaths ranged in age from 33 years old to 88 years old. None were residents of a long-term care center as the number of COVID-19-related deaths in long-term care facilities remained at 897 (35%).
There were 464 new positive cases included in Wednesday’s report increasing the overall total to 248,910. The state is averaging 821.4 new cases per day over the last seven days, down from 2,125.3 cases per day two weeks ago.
