Contact by Dover police leads to discovery of handgun

DOVER — A 43-year-old Dover man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly being found in possession of a handgun when contacted by officers regarding a separate criminal investigation, Dover police said.

Michael Haith was contacted by police in the area of Holmes Street and Moriarty Street at approximately 7:59 p.m., spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said. He was also found in possession of 2.4 grams of marijuana, according to authorities.

Mr. Haith was charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited, and possession of marijuana. He was released on his own recognizance.
