Constance D. Sturgis

BERLIN - Constance D. Sturgis died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Mardela Springs, she was the daughter of the late Addison Dashiell and Luetta Brown Dashiell. Her husband, Arthur Sturgis, Sr., also preceded her in death. She was a member of Tyree A.M.E. Church where she served as President of the Missionary Ministry and Trustee Emeritus. She was also a member of the Lily of the Valley Eastern Star No. 43, Retired Teachers Association, Germantown Community Heritage School, Worcester County NAACP, Salisbury High School Association and African American Literary Sorority. She taught at Worcester High School and Berlin Middle School. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Amos Dashiell; and a sister, Emma V. Dashiell. She is survived by a son, Arthur Sturgis, Jr.; a daughter, Anna Cannon; a brother, Herbert Dashiell; a sister, Jean Knight; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Service information will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
