Wesley College led by as many as eight points in overtime before posting a 101-99 victory over Salisbury in men’s basketball on Sunday afternoon.
Mychal Stefanides and Brian Cameron netted 26 points apiece for the Wolverines (4-5) in a nonconference contest that was tied 82-82 at the end of regulation.
Wesley went up 99-91 before holding off the Sea Gulls (4-7). The Wolverines led 101-96 before Salisbury’s Bryan Boehlert hit a three-pointer with one second left.
Greg Bloodsworth (Smyrna) added 17 points for Wesley with Terrance Braxton adding 13. Stefanides sank six of the Wolverines’ 15 three-pointers in the game.
Wesley lost to the Gulls by two points in overtime last season. Lucas Martin had a game-high 31 points for Salisbury.
WOMEN, Wesley 58, Medgar Evers 56: Lekeshia Brown-Myric scored 15 points as the Wolverines pulled out the victory.
The Wolverines (2-5) outscored the Cougars, 17-11, in the fourth quarter after trailing by four.
Angelique Gathers added 14 points for Wesley with SherVohnia Tolson adding 11. Gathers pulled down 12 rebounds with Tolson adding 10.
