QUOTE OF THE WEEK: DSU coach Rod Milstead on wanting more consistency out of his offense: “I want to see us do what we do well. If we run inside zone, I want to see it run well with no mistakes. Our basic offensive formations, I want to see those thing run without a hitch. Those are the things our guys should know how to do because we implemented them day one.”
KEYS TO THE GAME: Delaware State ran all over Virginia Lynchburg a year ago and will look to do the same again this year. In 2021, the Hornets had a pair of 100-yard runners in the same game for the first time since 2018. One of those runners, Michael Chris-Ike, should feature heavily in the Hornet run game Saturday, flanked by Marquis Gillis, Wage Inge and Thomas Bertrand-Hudon. Milstead has talked about hoping for another blowout to empty his bench as he wants to give everyone on the roster ample time. This could be a chance for backup quarterback C.J. Henry to see an extended run under center in the second half. He came in during the fourth quarter of the opener against Lincoln and rushed for his first career touchdown.
