Clayton man shot, suspect at-large

DOVER — A shooting incident in the Capitol Park neighborhood late Tuesday left a 45-year-old Clayton man wounded and a suspect at large, authorities said.

According to Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto, troopers responded to residences on Congress Place at approximately 11:54 p.m. regarding a report of shots fired.

Police said an investigation determined that Jaron Jones, 45, of Dover had been involved in an argument with a neighbor. During the argument, police said, Mr. Jones fired several shots toward the neighbor, which struck the Clayton man who was standing nearby.

Police said Mr. Jones subsequently fled the area in a black Buick Enclave SUV and was last seen traveling northbound on Bay Road toward an unknown destination.

The Clayton man sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition Wednesday.

Police said attempts to locate Mr. Jones have been unsuccessful, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
