CLAYTON — Delaware State Police arrested Cody Bowers, 27, of Clayton in connection with an alleged stabbing that took place outside of a residence Friday night.
Authorities said a 52-year-old victim engaged in a verbal argument with Mr. Bowers after the suspect continually drove his dirt bike on and around the victim’s property at approximately 9:10 p.m. on the 1600 block of Blackiston Road in Clayton. The verbal altercation escalated and eventually turned physical after Bowers was knocked off his dirt bike.
During the physical altercation Mr. Bowers produced a knife and stabbed the victim three times in the upper torso, according to DSP. Mr. Bowers then fled scene on the dirt bike while the victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigative means, Mr. Bowers was identified as the suspect. State troopers responded to his residence and took him into custody without incident.
Mr. Bowers was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and third-degree criminal trespassing. He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and committed to the Sussex County Correctional Institution on $30,100 cash bond.
