CM/Sgt. (Ret) Clarence W. 'Larry' Beebe, 90

DOVER - Clarence W. "Larry" Beebe passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, in the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. He was 90. Mr. Beebe was born to the late Joseph F. Beebe and Lilly Pearl Jolly Beebe on Aug. 29, 1918, in Spotswood, N.J. Mr. Beebe joined the U.S. Air Force, formerly the U.S. Army Air Corps, prior to World War II and was a veteran of the Berlin Airlift, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an aircraft mechanic and retired after 27 years at the rank of CM/Sgt. When asked his favorite aircraft he would say "the B-36." After the USAF, he worked for Safeway and retired from Townsend Brothers Chevrolet of Dover. Besides his parents, Mr. Beebe was preceded in death by brothers, William and Joseph M. Beebe. Mr. Beebe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret E. (Sally) Sleigh Beebe; daughter, Janet L. Beebe Satter of Dover; sister, Una P. Makson of Spotswood, N.J.; grandchildren, Amy E. Satter Lui and husband David of Lancaster, Pa., and Eric R. Satter of Dover; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Lui. Mr. Beebe was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dover, Capital Grange of Dover and the Sergeants Assoc. Memorial services will be 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church of Dover located at State and Reed streets. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to your favorite charity, or the American Parkinson Disease Assoc.
