Clarence George Blendt

Blendt, 91 SMYRNA - Clarence George Blendt, of Smyrna, passed away on October 1, 2013. He was 91. He was born in Smyrna on December 11, 1921. He entered the Civil Air Patrol in the late 1930's, and for served for many years. Mr. Blendt retired from M & G Convoy with over 30 years of service, and also was self-employed as a dairy farmer for many years. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Smyrna; a 70+ year member of the Clayton Lions Club; and a longtime Smyrna Diner patron. He enjoyed collecting HO Scale train models, playing the organ, fishing, and boating. Clarence was also an avid NASCAR fan, and worked with the Lions Club at Dover Downs on many occasions making many longtime friends. A highlight in his later years was seeing Bill Cosby with his grandson Jake, and attending train shows. He will be remembered as someone who loved life, loved dancing, and who enjoyed a fine Garcia Vega cigar once in a while. He was also a dapper dresser. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Blendt; a son, Bradford Blendt and his wife Judith; a sister, Marie Piser; three step-grandchildren, Jake, Jordan, and Jaclyn Sinex; and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Monday October 7, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 118 W.
