HURLOCK - Clara Blount, 84, passed away on July 10, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born March 6, 1923, in Crestwell, N.C., to the late Alvina Blount and Henry Leigh. She moved to Maryland in 1950 where she worked various jobs. She attended the Pleasant Day Adult Daycare Center in Cambridge.
She was known as "Mom" to those who knew her. She had five children, Ronald Cephas of Hurlock, Bertha Cephas of Cambridge, Alvina Cox of Dunbar (Windsor, N.C.), Abraham Cephas Jr of Baltimore and Martha Keene of Immokalee, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Cephas and Nellie Berdaux of Hurlock and Mary Walker of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock, where friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Burial will be in Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock.
