DOVER — A 34-year-old Cheswold man was arrested on DUI and weapons charges following a traffic stop early Sunday, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

Police said investigation began at 2:20 a.m., when officers observed a car exited a private parking lot into the roadway in the 100 block of South Bradford Street and strike a legally parked car, police said.

Officers contacted the driver, Isiah Dunbar, and noticed that he showed several signs of being impaired by alcohol, police said. Mr. Dunbar was arrested for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and officers located a 9mm handgun concealed on his person following a search.

Mr. Dunbar was charged with DUI, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while under the influence and failure to have insurance identification in possession. He was released on $4,500 unsecured bail.
