Lyons Gray, 71
ELLIOTTS ISLAND, MD - Cherelyn (Chere) Lyons Gray passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Cherelyn was born in Easton, MD on July 24, 1952, the daughter of late Charles Robert Lyons Sr. and Dorothy Ellen (Sullivan) Lyons. She attended school at Easton High School followed by a nursing degree from the Eastern Shore State Hospital.
Cherelyn married Tommy Michael Gray on August 8, 1976, and they began their life together on Elliott's Island, MD. Cherelyn worked as a home health nurse for the residents of Elliotts Island. She later moved to geriatric nursing. She retired from her nursing career from Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge, MD in 2020.
Cherelyn was a devoted wife, mother and especially grandmother. She spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren. They affectionately called her MaMa. She enjoyed spending time with her entire family, shopping trips, thrifting, swimming, and walking the beach at her home collecting sea glass.
Cherelyn is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mike Gray; daughter Amy Gray Swann (Sammy), son, Joseph Michael Gray (Rosa); six grandchildren: David Davis, Christeena Davis, Brandt Swann (Dannie), Michael Benjamin Johnson, Andrew Charles Johnson and Mindy Graylie Swann. Also, her sisters, Pam Kennedy (Bo) and Karen Lyons and brothers; Kent Lyons (Donna), Kevin Lyons (Lisa), Jeff Lyons (Mandy), Tracy Lyons (Janet) and Timmy Lyons (Tracy), as well as many nieces and nephews which she had special relationships with.
