EASTON - Charles W. "Chuck" Carroll, 79, died at his home in Easton, on Saturday, June 14, 2008.

Born June 16, 1928 in Trappe, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen V. Hummer Carroll. After attending Talbot County Public Schools, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He then began a lifelong career in the banking industry, working for Union Trust in the Talbot, Dorchester and Caroline banking region, retiring in 1988 as Vice President.

A member of BPO Easton Elks Lodge 1622 and E.E. Streets Memorial Post 5118 VFW, he also enjoyed his leisure time upon the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, bluegrass music and traveling about the local area with his beloved pet "Bandit."

Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Kinnamon, whom he married in 1997; four children, June C. Melchior and her husband, Jonathan, Lois A. Richards and her husband, Marty, Eric L. Carroll, and Amy G. Carroll and her friend, Barbara A. Cabrera; two stepchildren, Terry M. Shorter and his wife, Dawn, and Sherry L. Harris; six grandchildren, Emily Melchior, Amber and Lauren Richards, Brian and Julia Carroll, and Jordan Cabrera; and three stepgrandchildren, Matthew and Mitchell Winstead, and Jessica Shorter.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Helen Marshall Carroll; and one brother, Orem F. Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery, Hurlock.
