MIDDLETOWN -Charles Edwin Schreppler, our husband, father, Pee Pop, Uncle, and friend said good bye to all of us on Saturday Oct. 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born on a snowy day at 458 Brick Mill Road, Middletown on Jan. 21, 1926. He always had a strong work ethic, worked hard and enjoyed doing so. He served four years during World War II in the United States Merchant Marine and following the war, served two years in the United States Army with the 10th Mountain Division in Germany. He then worked briefly at the American Store and A&P in Middletown before going to General Motors for eleven years. After that he opened his own service station in Middletown, Charlie's Service Center. The last, he joined Chrysler Corporation as a millwright and retired in 1991 after 18 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Volunteer Hose Company where he served on the Active Crew and Ambulance Crew and the Board of Directors as Secretary. Also Local 1183, Life Member of the VFW Post 3792 - SGT William Lloyd Nelson, Loyal Order of Moose 1295, Middletown Lions Club, MOT Jean Birch Senior Center, Act Inc. and had served as Mayor, Councilman, and on the Board of Adjustments until August 2010 when he resigned because of his health. He was an active member of the Delaware Democratic Party. He had a great love for his church, Tree of Life Lutheran and was a charter member. He rejoiced in being in his own home with the special care, support and love of Jodie Donovan of Shorecare of Delaware. A special thanks to Dr. Stuart F. Felzer and his staff for the special care he received from all of them. A special appreciation to Gary Eberhard, nephew, who was always available to do anything he was requested to do at any time. He was predeceased by his parents, George B. Schreppler Sr. and Julia Paulman Schreppler; two sisters, Louise Schreppler and Catherin Collins and a brother; George B. Schreppler Jr.; a special baby boy, Charles E. Schreppler Jr.; his in-laws, George A. Eberhard Sr. and Rosalena Plugge Eberhard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothea Eberhard Schreppler. They were married on May 16, 1953. Also by his sons, Stephen Charles and Edwin Lee Schreppler who were always in his heart and loved unconditionally; and was Pee Pop to four grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Meghan and Elizabeth Schreppler and Dale and Sarah Schreppler; one sister, Theresa Adams; nephews; nieces; and many, many, wonderful friends. And his many trips with Vernon and Marie Foraker, which will never be forgotten by him or his wife. A final farewell will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown with service at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, Pastor Leitzke presiding, 505 Osbourne Street, Odessa at 11a.m. with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012. Final resting place will be in Forest Cemetery.
