DOVER - Charles E. Teat Sr. of Dover, and formally of Chester, Pa. and Pondtown, Md., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, in the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 93.
Mr. Teat was born near Ingleside, Md., the son of the late Earnest and Susie Wilson Teat.
He was a self-employed truck driver.
For many years, Mr. Teat owned and operated his own trucking business.
He also drove for Med Porter and had a school bus contract with the Queen Anne"s County public school system.
Mr. Teat was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pondtown, Md. and the Shiloh Baptist Church, Chester Pa.
Mr. Teat loved to play his guitar, loved to fish, and enjoyed watching professional wrestling.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Teat was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah D. Teat in 1981; a daughter, Geneva Price; a son, Charles E. Teat Jr.; and grandsons Vernon Ashley and Ralph Deaton.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy May Teat of Dover; three daughters, Thelma M. and her husband, Ralph Deaton of Chestertown, Md., Gloria T. and her husband, John Cooper of Pondtown and Theresa Elliott of Philadelphia; one son, Dallas S. and his wife, Zuma Teat of Phoenix.; 16 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pondtown, where friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in the adjoining churchyard cemetery.
