MILTON - Charles E. "Chuck" "MILT" Moore, Jr., 51, died on Feb. 7, 2014. His wife, Ruth Ann Moore, 45, died on Feb. 16, 2014, both from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Charles joined the Army in June of 1982. He proudly served his country for three years. Upon completion of basic training and AIT (Advanced Individual Training) he was stationed in Fort Ord, Calif. He spent the balance of his military career working as a mechanic for the Chaparhal vehicle systems. He was awarded a Marksman Medal for the M16 Rifle; Charles also medaled and qualified as a hand grenade expert and held a National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class (PFC) in 1985. Charles was always very proud of his military service and loved his country. He was a self-employed carpenter. He has been a member of the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club since 2007. He was an integral part of the benefits for Home of the Brave Veteran's Home, never forgetting our mission statement of honoring and supporting veterans. Milt spent a lot of his spare time helping feed, clothe and provide support for many. His love for riding came from the heart and anyone that rode beside him, knew how truly free it made him feel. Chuck was president of the Milton Little League and team manager for many years coaching both his daughter and son. He was an amazing father and loyal friend to all. Ruth loved every child she met no matter what their individual needs may have been. While working at the daycare, she was attending classes so that one day she could become a teacher. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Ruth was also active in the Milton Little League making sure the concession stand was run smoothly and watching her children play. Ruth loved fishing and exercising. They were preceded in death by their daughter, Megan Moore. Ruth was also preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Carlisle. Charles was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Lib Moore Smith. They are survived by their son, Charles E. "Chaz" Moore, III. Charles is also survived by his father, Charles, Sr. and his wife, Donna of Milton; mother, Joyce Kay Schmierer Moore; sister, Teet Sharp of Milford; brothers, Danny Moore and wife Judy of Lincoln, and Richard Moore of Milton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth is also survived by her mother, Ethel Carlisle; brother, Steven Carlisle of Seaford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
